We're Back! // Meagan+Ryan's Maternity Session

 Well hello there! It has been a while-- almost five years to be exact. I'm not going to lie, I burnt myself out again. I didn't want to pick up my camera, touch my computer, be around people, go to events... I didn't want to any of it. Before I knew it, I had graduated college, lost my passion and my creativity and then it was 2020 and there was a pandemic.

I've worked in the pharmacy setting for the past five years, going from a retail setting to a hospital setting. COVID did a number on me- working long hours with little staff, little breaks and little motivation. I started a new position in 2021 where I had a set schedule, weekends off and a little bit of a life again. Fast forward to now, 2023- COVID is still a thing, there are still some very sick people, but I'm craving movement again. I'm craving photography. I'm craving some normalcy again.

While I haven't picked up my camera much, I did just recently take some maternity photos of one of my best friends. I was very very nervous about picking up my camera. I was nervous about not having the eye or touch to get those special photos but looking at them and editing them, I realized that I just picked up where I left off.

It has been such a delight holding my camera again. Feeling the familiar weight of it in my hands. Spending hours in front of my computer editing.

Oh my goodness how much I missed it...

Below are some of my favorite photos from Meagan and Ryan's maternity shoot!

Cody+Josie || 2018 Thoughts

Wow. 2018 has been a real doosey, let me tell you that. Immediately following graduation in December of 2017, I stopped taking pictures. Between sporting events and two photography classes, I had burned myself out. And fast. Between this wonderful session and December, I maybe picked up my camera three times. Once when my town had an ice storm roll through, the second when all of the peonies in my town bloomed, and the third was Cody and I went to the Tail of the Dragon.

I do still love photography.

I had to fall in love with taking pictures and the editing aspects of it. It was hard and sometimes frustrating, but I believe this session was worth it.

It was a real blessing with Josie contacted me in order to take pictures of her and (her) Cody for the 10 years together and five years married. It was well worth the long wait and time away from my camera.

Without further ado, here are my absolute favorites from my first session back --

Annemarie | Senior 2018

I met Annemarie, aka Amm, a very long time ago. Our brothers grew up playing soccer together and our family's were very close. I was blessed with the opportunity to take Amm's senior photos last summer. To take photos of the people you grew up with is a very big blessing and I loved every minute of taking and editing these photos.

Liz+Andrew

Wow wow wow! Liz and I met my freshman year of college and we graduated college this year! When I found out that Liz was engaged.. and then married, I knew I was going to take pictures of her and her new fiancé no matter what!

Below are some of my favorite pictures of them and I hope everyone loves them just as much as I do. I really do think that their love shines through their personalities and it's a beautiful sight to see the two of them together!

Happy Monday (Merry Christmas) :)
