Recap(ture)

This past week was my spring break and my aunt set up a few interviews with a few people like in my past post and I think I've figured out most of my future. I understand what to do about school now and what to major in and where I'm going in life. I also figured out that I need to be taking pictures everyday, almost all day. Even if I don't have my camera, I always have my phone and I can use that to take pictures. I had brought my camera to DC but I hadn't brought it with me on my adventures when I went shopping or when I went to the interviews. Here are some of my phone-camera pictures that I happened to take (because I didn't take that many).

On the flight to DC at night.
It's so pretty!

They were so delicious!

Even photographers mess up!  I didn't realized that my finger was in the shot way until we passed this building.  But regardless, it's a pretty awesome graffiti creature!

We kept passing these stickers as we were walking and I love them!

Love these!

Portfolio Review

Hi all! Recently my life has become consumed with Gossip Girl and I've been watching it nonstop, and of course I have school. With school and two jobs, I am one busy girl!

Friends, I am going to DC to talk to photographers!

I am flying with my mom over my spring break to meet with four extremely talented people.  Here are two of the people I am meeting Daniel and Rachel. I have become obsessed with their work and I am so looking forward to meeting them. I am going to DC to figure out what I am going to do with my life. I know photography is my passion and my soul, but where do I start? Do I get an art degree, a photography degree, or business degree? Where do I need to go to school? Where do I need to live? What city will I move to? What kind of photography does my heart want to do? I hope to get all of my answers when I go next week.

Here are my pictures I put in my portfolio for my meetings next week:

Kyra

Remember this girl? Well I usually go adventuring with her, but in the middle of January in Ohio, the weather isn't that great this time of year. It was about 5 degrees outside with some wind. Not your perfect picture weather, right? Well, that didn't stop us! Even though it was about 5 degrees out in the middle of the day when the suns all weird and stuff, we went to the covered bridge and took a few head shots for Kyra's camp that she will be counseling over the summer. She was so stunning and so ready for these pictures, we were done in about 10 minutes. Talk about fast! Well here's a few that I edited just so she could send them in for her profile.

So these pictures were taken in the very same place, just zoomed a little bit, but silly me forgot to edit out the red graffiti on the bottom picture. All well, it adds character!

The Thompson House

Last night I thought it would be fun to be adventurous and see an old friend's band. Sure they were going to be playing with a bunch of other bands, but all well. One of the bands happened to be one of my favorites, City Lights. Never heard of them, well here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNmm6Xug-vY  I actually didn't even get to hear them because it was late and we had an hour to drive home (the show was in Covington, Kentucky). But we stayed for four bands and they were all really good and loud.

I only edited a few pictures because I want to spend my good time editing them for my portfolio. But last night's show was the first time I shot live in over a year! How crazy is that? I think I did a pretty good job for taking a break of live stuff and I'm happy with the work I have. Sure my camera focused on the microphones instead of the faces or the cymbals instead of the drummers, but this is still a learning experience for me. I can say that I feel like I am getting better at live shots and improving at every session I have. Without further ado, here are some of the shots from last night!

Monica

I had the wonderful opportunity to take some photos of a friend's friend and her family. My dad's friend, Wendy, called me an afternoon to take some pictures of her best friend, who also happens to be sick. Of course I said yes because I have never done anything like this before! I had a lot of fun wandering around the games just snapping photos of everybody playing and talking. Here are a few of my favorites!

Cake!

I love all of the different pictures behind these girls.

Monica is the middle lady. I love them all surrounding her!

Monica and Wendy!

As my little brother Antonio would say, Merry Bristmas!
